International cooperation

In order to improve the quality of supervision and to promote the compliance with the rules, the Environmental Inspectorate cooperates in several areas and with the different international organizations.

Considering its broad area and the nature of the business, the most frequent cooperation takes part in the fishing domain. On the coordination of the European Fisheries Control Agency (based in Vigo Spain) the Environmental Inspectorate along with multiple other relevant European Union Member States takes active part in joint supervision operations on the Baltic Sea as well as in Regional Fisheries Management Organizations on the Atlantic Ocean such as NAFO (Nort-West Fisheries Organization) and NEAFC (North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission).

The Environmental Inspectorate has participated in IMPEL (European Union Network for the Implementation and Enforcement of Environmental Law) and its working group IMPEL-TFS projects for many years. The aim of the European network is intended for exchanging experience and unifying the principles of environmental protection. IMPEL-TFS was established to monitor waste transport across borders and organise joint supervision operations on the border.

Another network in which the Environmental Inspectorate contributes is the EU nature conservation network GreenForce.

The Environmental Inspectorate cooperates with several countries in order to detect marine pollutions and ascertaining offenders.

Our cooperation organisations are:
NAFO
IMPEL
GreenForce
